University of Illinois Trailblazer

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

This year I was promoted to the rank of Professor in the School of Art & Design at the University of Illinois! In April I was recognized as a trailblazer by the University of Illinois Black Faculty and Professional Alliance, as I am the first Black person to gain the rank of Professor in the School’s 147 year history. I’m truly honored, joyful, and working to take the door off its hinges for others. Thank you to all, inside and outside of the University, especially my dear wife Jess, who supported and helped me reach this milestone!
