Dancer, curator, and choreographer Endalyn Taylor and visual artist Patrick Earl Hammie are collaborating with five cross-generational ballerinas toward a multimedia event entitled the Counterpoint Project, which will feature live performances and a symposium that seek to reframe the discussion regarding black ballerinas confronting racial disparities and institutional discrimination, and create a platform that educates communities about the historical and present day accomplishments of groundbreaking black ballerinas.

Endalyn Taylor and Darrell Grand Moultrie will choreograph original solos performed by national and international artists Ingrid Silva (Dance Theatre of Harlem, New York City), Cira Robinson (Ballet Black, London), Endalyn Taylor, Mya McClellan, and Gabby Rembert. Visual artist Patrick Earl Hammie will focus on each dancer through a series of portrait paintings and figurative works that explore personal identity and respond to political, social, and cultural expectation. Theresa Ruth Howard (MoBBallet) will moderate the post-performance discussion, which will delve into the collaborative process, art, and lived experiences of each contributor.
